What is the 5S standard management system?

  • SERI (Refinement): To review, sort out, select and remove unnecessary things at work. Everything (supplies, equipment, raw materials, broken belongings, etc.) is not / is not relevant, not / not necessary for operation in an area will have to be separated from what is needed then type Remove or remove from production. Only new items are needed at work. S1 is usually conducted at regular intervals.
  • SEITON (arrangement): Sorting is the activity of arranging work items, semi-finished products, materials, goods … in reasonable positions so that they are easily recognizable, easy to retrieve and easy to return. The general principle of S2 is that any requisite item has its own position and is accompanied by a clear identification. S2 is an activity that needs to be adhered to thoroughly.
  • SEISO (Clean): is to keep workplace hygiene, machinery, equipment, work tools or work areas around the workplace to ensure a pleasant working environment. S3 is also an activity to be carried out periodically.
  • SEIKETSU: Care is understood to be a regular maintenance and standardization of the first 3S (Seri, Seiton, and Seiso). In order to ensure 3S is maintained, it is possible to set up a standard that outlines the scope of each individual’s 3S responsibilities, how and where to deploy 3S. S4 is a process in which the sense of compliance of employees in an organization is forged and developed.
  • SHITSUKE (Willingness): It is a habit of self-discipline to comply with the regulations at work. Be ready to be expressed in the employee’s sense of self-awareness for 5S activities. All members are aware of the importance of 5S, volunteering and actively integrating the 5S standards with work to bring greater personal productivity and productivity.
